thankful for Life’s little trips

i woke up this morning

and

fell in Love all over again

socialism?
capitalism?
progressive or liberal?
perhaps, conservative?

drop the titles and judgments, friends.

the job is simple actually…
i’ll spell it out, from my heart.

clothe the poor
feed the hungry
and
give drink to the thirsty.

and if you still have room to complain or judge, think on these gems…

if someone hits you,
go ahead – turn the other cheek.
if someone asks for your coat,
hey – offer them your shirt as well.
get your walkin’ shoes ready,
cuz if the request is made – walk an extra mile.

i think these little nuggets of God’s heart will keep our lives busy enough…but then again, it is easier just to do what we’ve been doing isn’t it?

i yearn for so much more than
this postcard love

sometimes i just feel like shouting:

HEY YOU!
this heart is an open house
settle on in
and
make yourself at home

how is it that i
live with so much
sadness?

i have lost beauty’s touch
to my eyes
all i see, is broken – crumbling

struggling in this ocean
of grief – bobbing, flailing
i grasp at breath

where have all the stars gone?
why does the moon
hide her face?

loneliness is lonely

sadness is sad

and in this darkness
all i want is
sleep

today new additions
arrived

a goldfish
and
two hermit crabs

“kermit crabs”
from the mouth of my nephew

so now we have ~
a tortoise…named Turtle
a cat
three dogs
two kermit crabs
and a goldfish

not to forget
the family of humming birds
attending to the feeder
out back

or the many
many spiders who have
apparently
decided living with humans
is
the choicest of habitats

i love it!

all these faces of God
for my nephew
to learn to love

today some friends
spoke of heartbreak

as if it were
some horrible thing

and i thought,
how can this be true?

i think of my life as
quite beautiful

and i have never known
a day without it

i listened to this song today and it was like listening to it for the first time. the song is titled, “Pilgrim” and is written by Enya and Roma Ryan. her music can be so sweeping and beautiful, i wonder if listeners are aware of the mindfulness, the awareness, the mysticism within Roma Ryan’s lyrics. great poetry.

i wrote this in honor of all who struggle…

i will Love

until their hate
their ignorance
their fear
is exhausted.

for my Love knows no exhaustion

even as the lie hides behind religion and tradition
the Earth will give way and bear witness to my Love

even as the foundation of hate crumbles
under the pillars of fear and ignorance
my Love will rise, like a phoenix
out of the dust and ash
taking flight
